Hello, kitty-cats and puppy-dogs.  My name is Carlos, and I’m the office kitty at Cobble Hill Animal Clinic.  I have a few words of warning for my four-legged friends, and their two-legged caretakers.

As the leaves fall and the air cools, some of our decorative outdoor plants are coming inside to avoid the chill.  As we all know, some cats and dogs cannot help but succumb to the temptation to nibble on any new additions to our surroundings.  Unfortunately, many ornamental household plants can be poisonous to us. 

To protect your fuzzy friends from harmful household flora, please do some research on the plants you intend to keep in your home.  For instance, did you know that the aloe plant is toxic to both dogs and cats?  So are dried apricots, mistletoe, and chamomile.  There are some reputable organizations that boast comprehensive websites with pictures and descriptions of toxic plants that you might have in your home right now.  You will find links to these pages at the bottom of this page.
